Decompress
Before we can learn we must let go of what we know.
Just like us our dogs react to different pressures in the environment differently. When the pressure builds up sometimes due to prolonged exposure to a trigger or multiple triggers it can result in our dogs acting out, much like a pipe about to burst.
How to help your dog decompress
- Give your dog a safe, quiet, comfortable place away from everything where they can relax (Den)
- When you have visitors, give them something to lick or a long-lasting chew in an area away from everything where they won't be disturbed.
- Take your dog for a mindful nature walk or a Sniffari.
- Ensure your dog is able to get adequate sleep, for their age.
Signs that your dog may be feeling the pressure
- Panting in the absence of heat or exercise.
- Salivating or drooling
- Pacing / inability to sit still for long / constantly moving from one spot to another
- Tense body language (Erect ears, tail, fixated stare,)
- Vocalising (whining / barking / whincing)
- Excessive jumping
- Cowering Ears, tail and body lower than normal.
- Urination, defacation and vomittng
