Fear, Anxiety and Stress (FAS)
Different dogs show different signals when experiencing FAS. While some dogs may growl or hide, others may jump up or even get the zoomies.
What:
Fear:
Fear is a natural response that can be beneficial as a protective mechanism. It alerts the animal to potential dangers and prompts it to take action and stay safe. A healthy dose of fear results in caution and awareness. Excessive or irrational fear makes the animal more cautious than it really needs to be to stay safe, and prevents it from doing things it would otherwise enjoy.
Stress:
Stress is the body's natural response to pressures or threats in the environment.
Stress can be beneficial when it motivates animals to overcome problems and challenges. However, it can also become problematic when it prevents animals from functioning or coping with their environment, causes them to lash out or results in trigger stacking.

Overcoming Stress
Everyone manages stress in their own unique way, and dogs are no different.
